Valerie H. Tocci is a graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School Law where she was awarded the Heyman Corporate Governance Fellowship. Valerie received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and completed the General Course at the London School of Economics.
Prior to joining CMFT, Valerie served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York prosecuting an array of federal offenses from violent crime and financial fraud to parental kidnapping. Valerie also served as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County. Valerie has extensive trial experience in both the state and federal courts.
Valerie served as Court Attorney to the Honorable Esther M. Morgenstern, New York State Supreme Court Justice, in the both the Kings County Family Court and the Queens County Integrated Domestic Violence Court. Valerie was part of the team of judges, attorneys and court system professionals who helped to create the Queens IDV, which handles matrimonial, family court and criminal cases in a single, unified court.
Valerie’s work with the victims of violent crime and domestic violence has given her a unique perspective on the emotional challenges facing families dealing with divorce. At the same time, she approaches every case with the level headedness and integrity of a seasoned prosecutor.
Valerie is a founding member of the Associates Board of New York Legal Service Group (NYLAG), a not-for-profit social services agency which provides free legal services for people who cannot afford to hire private attorneys.
